After some discussion and wavering we finally appointed Kensington Company Ltd, a Bangkok-based design-and-build architectural and construction company as the Architect to produce the working plans for our retirement house in Pakchong and we are very glad we did so.

I was fortunate in that my wife’s best friend is an architect and is also married to one. They did our house drawings with numerous changes for 10,000 Thai baht. This was not done through the company they work for – but as a side job for them where they got to keep all the money.

The plans were professionally done, and got approved byt whichever Thai government office initials each and every page of the drawings to ensure that the house will be structuraly sound.

I often wonder who approves those wooden shacks and shanties?

My wife is trying to find a good and reputable architect to draw up plans for a new house to replace the old and run down family home about 45 minutes out of Khon Kaen. We have some ideas but need a professional for advice and all the technical aspects. Any advice you can give us will be greatly appreciated.

Hi William and thank you very much for taking the trouble to ask your question about where to find a good and reputable thai Architect in Thailand.

After a great deal of seraching and comparing service and prices etc we settled on The Kensington Company to make the construction drawings for our retirment house in Pakchong (Pak Chong) and ever since have been thankful that we did so.

I thoroughly recommend the Kensington Company for house design and have given the reasons why on other pages on this website like the “Free Consultation For Thai House Plans Or Building A House In Thailand” page which has a load of links to other useful pages and our story about finding a Thai Architect.

I also recommend that you look at the Thai house plans made for us by the Kensington Company for the retirement house we have built in Pakchong (Pak Chong), Thailand, and even let me send you a set by email if you wish.

i hope you can help me, my first question, is how much did it cost to bulid,? 2 how long did it take for completion i,e move in ?, 3 ,,, is there a difference if i am a foriegner, i am confused because thai law forbids foriegners owning houses outright, or does this only apply when buying, is this a loophole in the law, to build, and not buy ? ,
like you my dream is to retire to thailand, i really would like to have a lease for 30 years, then build a small condo block, even gaining a lease i think is somewhat confusing to me, but i’m beginning to understand things,
