Hi Alan,
Are you sure you want to build a house and retire in Thailand?
Are you the kind of person who can deal with problems like this:-
You pay your Thai builder a stage payment before he has finished that stage, and then he demands yet more money to finish it.
We worry if this builder is going to walk away from our project, leaving it in limbo and pocketing all the up-front money we have paid him.
The drama unfolds as I try to sort things out with the house build and get some holiday at the same time.
Anyway here we go with a seven day synopsis of the story so far as I try to unravel this mess…

This is Day 8 in Thailand and it’s not getting any better.
The builder is playing cat-and-mouse and the quality of the work is appalling at best.
As the Thai house build project stumbles into another day my enthusiasm for this whole retiring in Thailand project saps away. This is for real – it’s not a joke.

Builder Ruins The Gate Runner – But Check Out My Office!
Our builder is still on the rampage to wreck our house plans in Thailand by driving carelessly over the gate runner and ruining the beautiful slide-smoothing gate (Photos + Video)
But I have found a ‘heaven’ only a few minutes from our house (guess Kanyah has been hiding it from me) where I have set up my ‘office’. Be sure to watch the movie.

It seems now that I’m not alone in throwing fits about the poor quality and slowness of the progress on our house build project.
Now Kanyah has joined in and has told me she intends to give our builder the boot and finish the project herself – helped by Jalan. Also everything you wanted to know about how not to pour concrete and how to cover up the defects. Some pretty aweful photos and movies.
