Hi Alan, Just a quick email to let you know that there four new pages on the website:-
A graphical history of all the major activities that have taken place and all the decisions we have made to date in our quest to teritre to Thailand. If you are planning any kind of retirement in Thailand, designing, buying or building a house there, this timeline will give you a guide as the process and how long it might take you.
We actually received the quotation from a Thai builder to build our Thai retirement house in Pakchong shown below in January 2010, and now I have put it on the website.
First is the quotation to build the house as received from the Thai builder in Pakchong and then there is a cleaned-up version I made in Excel speadsheet format.
Now Kanyah is back at Pakchong with the Thai House Plans (construction issue) and is looking again for builders to build our retirement house. But just as it was difficult to find a builder last year when we only had the house drawings that I made (not those produced by our Thai Architect which we have now), so this time it is not so easy also.
Another quick and brief update on Kanyah’s progress on finding builders to construct our house in Pakchong, Thailand.

.Hi Alan, Just a quick email to let you know that there two new pages on the website.
Sometimes people get confused between the Land Office and the Or Bor Tor office so I am showing photos of both offices in Pakchong so that you have a visual image of the two different kinds of office.
Because she had previously told me, as advised by our future new neighbour, that the land in the area where we want to build out house floods in the rainy season I was anxious to know the extent and depth of the flood water.
A simple checklist of the steps to go through in preparation for building your retirement house in Thailand. These are the steps leading up the commencement of construction, i.e. the Pre-Construction Phase. You will be surprised at what is involved.

Hua Hin House Build
Alan L and his wife are building a house in Hua Hin. Their land is a nightmare of uncontrollable vegetation growth and floods. He has put more than one metre of topsoil on the top of his land to raise it above the flood level.
Looks like an expensive and difficult place to build a house.

Hi Alan, Kanyah has received prices now from 5 builders/construction companies in Pakchong.
It should be straight forward from here – just appoint one of them and our house build starts.
Far from it! I’m not at all impressed with what is going on (or more to the point what is not going on) in Pakchong and basically the whole project is on hold until I go out there over Christmas. The rest of the story is here:-

A guy called Alan I met via this website has a large piece of land near ours in Pakchong. He has a large farm there. We are meeting up with Alan on my next trip to look round his place and pick his brains – he has a lot of hands-on experience of building in Thailand. .Hi Alan,
Strange how it’s always difficult to achieve anything related to Thailand, isn’t it.
Here is a true story of how I went to the Thai Embassy in London to get a non O multiple journey visa and came away without one. Note that I was granted the same type of visa the year before from the royal Thai Consulate in Birmingham (U.K.) by presenting exactly the same documents!
